Single-Day Record: 150,000 Visitors and Approximately 2.2 Million Yuan in Turnout! This May Day Holiday, Food and the City Met Each Other Halfway Here

May 3rd, Xin Hai Tian Di (Chinese Food Street) in Taizhou's core commercial district was bustling with crowds. People stopped at various stalls to browse, waited in line, and savored delicious food, enjoying this most direct form of happiness.
This was the scene at the inaugural Taizhou Premium Food Week, part of the series of activities for the 2024 Black Pearl Restaurant Guide Catering Insight Summit. Black Pearl restaurants, local star-rated hotels, premium restaurants, and famous snacks made a "one-stop" appearance, offering residents a grand culinary feast right on their doorstep.

Although the Food Week has entered its third day, the popularity on-site hasn't waned in the slightest; in fact, it has refreshed its record. According to the latest data as of 9 PM the night, Xin Hai Tian Di set a new single-day record for foot traffic, attracting approximately 150,000 visits and generating around 2.2 million yuan in revenue.

The Xin Hai Tian Di (Chinese Food Street) project, located south of Yijiangshan Avenue, east of Taizhou Avenue, and west of Central Avenue, is not only a key provincial and municipal project but also one of the major landmark projects in the "Six Major Districts" construction of Jiaojiang District. Its development goals are to become a "Taizhou culinary highland, a hub for food culture dissemination, and an urban micro-vacation destination," promoting Taizhou's food culture and supporting its bid to become a "World Gourmet Capital."
For the city, food is a powerful catalyst for igniting the "vitality," prospering the "economic circle," and promoting the integrated development of "industry, city, and people." For life, food offers unique memories that comfort the soul, provide encounters with "poetry and distant lands," and evoke the warmth of the city. This May Day holiday at Xin Hai Tian Di allowed these aspects to interact and meet each other halfway. In the words of diners' reviews: "The love and food that should not be disappointed—we felt it all here."

Different from typical food festivals, this event was led by three representatives of 2024 Black Pearl One-Diamond restaurants: Hong 0871 Selected Yunnan Cuisine, Kelong No.1, and Lao Bian Restaurant. Diamond-level delicacies were within easy reach, attracting citizens to attend the feast one after another and vie for purchases.
The characteristic of being both high-end and down-to-earth allowed this event to well satisfy the palate demands of different diners. The hot and spicy flavors of Qiaobo Spare Ribs, Aide Roasted Delicacies, and Laogao Roasted Lamb Leg were overwhelming; super-long fries, baked yogurt, and rock sugar roasted pears were eye-catching and 'breaking the mold' popular foods; Ziyang Street Seaweed Cakes, Baishuiyang Fried Tofu, and Kuocang Mountain Honey Peach Paste—snacks full of regional characteristics—also awakened nostalgic memories for many.

Many parents who brought their children to taste the food gave it a thumbs-up. Especially the live demonstration of pounding glutinous rice cakes attracted crowds to stop and watch. "In one place, children can taste specialty foods from all over Taizhou and learn about the food-making process. It saves time and effort, is highly educational, and deepens their understanding and memory of their hometown's food culture."
Busyness has been the shared feeling among staff at the various food stalls these days. The public's enthusiasm for tasting has translated into motivation for them to meticulously prepare the food. Many stalls had to restock multiple times, just to allow more citizens to enjoy their desired delicacies.

May 4th is the final day of this event. Citizens who haven't visited yet or wish to continue checking it out, don't miss this rare opportunity for a happy day of strolling and eating.
