Recently, the Provincial Leading Group Office for Building a Beautiful Zhejiang announced the provincial reserve list for the 2024-2025 "Lush Mountains and Clear Waters Are Mountains of Gold and Silver’ Practice Innovation Bases. Among the ten regions selected province-wide, Dachen Town secured a place. As the sole township and Taizhou's only representative on this list, this outcome signifies a breakthrough in Dacheng Town's efforts to convert ecological value into tangible benefits, with its distinctive island-based "Two Mountains’ approach gaining provincial recognition.

Boasting over 60% forest coverage, picturesque island resorts, and pioneering green energy initiatives... In recent years, Dachen Island has leveraged its maritime resources to pioneer four distinctive models for the "Two Mountains’ approach, forging a sustainable, replicable, and scalable green development pathway that offers invaluable insights for coastal regions seeking ecological and economic synergy.

Within the marine economy, eco-friendly aquaculture practices have established a modern fisheries industry system, achieving high-quality development through ecological conservation and industrial upgrading. Through ecological farming, Dachen Island's yellow croaker now rivals wild-caught standards in quality, winning the Gold Award at the China International Modern Fisheries Expo, with its high-quality yellow croaker output accounting for two-thirds of the province's total. For marine governance, the island has implemented the "Blue Cycle’ model for managing marine plastic waste, actively developing a three-dimensional recycling network for marine plastic litter. This effectively alleviates marine pollution pressures, transforming marine plastic waste from an environmental burden into high-value raw materials.

Regarding the "Zero-Carbon Island’ initiative, leveraging the island's abundant wind energy and marine carbon sink resources, we vigorously develop offshore wind power, green hydrogen storage, blue carbon trading, and carbon sink finance. The island has not only achieved fully electric public transport and aquaculture but also uses carbon sink resources to support island revitalisation and increase residents' income. Regarding cultural tourism integration for shared prosperity, the initiative delves into island landscape resources and revolutionary land reclamation heritage to develop premium cultural tourism projects. Innovative mechanisms for shared prosperity through cultural tourism have been established, achieving town revitalisation and public benefits through cultural tourism. From January to September this year, visitor numbers reached over 170,000, a 21.85% year-on-year increase, with tourism revenue reaching 151 million yuan, a 25.83% year-on-year increase.
