Harmony Council Lecture | 57th Session: Cooking the Freshness of Mountains and Seas, Blending Ancient and Modern Flavors — The Unique Charm and Future Path of Taizhou Cuisine
On June 19, the 57th session of the Taizhou Municipal Political Consultative Conference’s Harmony Council Lecture was held. This session invited Lin Meijun, Deputy Director of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the Central Committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association, Standing Committee Member of the Taizhou Municipal Political Consultative Conference, and Chairman of Zhejiang Linjiayi Brand Management Co., Ltd., to deliver a special lecture titled “Cooking the Freshness of Mountains and Seas, Blending Ancient and Modern Flavors — The Unique Charm and Future Path of Taizhou Cuisine.” Attendees included Ye Haiyan, Chairperson of the Taizhou Municipal Political Consultative Conference; Vice Chairpersons Cao Yu, Chen Jianxun, Liu Xiaobing, Ye Lingjun, and Chen Xi; along with some members of the Municipal Political Consultative Conference and personnel from the city’s application team for the title of “World City of Gastronomy.”

Taizhou, with its mountains in the north and sea in the south, boasts a unique geographical location and abundant resources, giving rise to the distinctive flavor profile of Taizhou cuisine—fresh, sweet, soft, and sticky—forming a unique culinary system. As a key representative of Zhejiang cuisine, Taizhou cuisine emphasizes ultimate freshness, pursues original flavors, and embodies harmony and integration. In recent years, the Taizhou Municipal Party Committee and Government have placed great importance on the city’s bid to become a “World City of Gastronomy,” a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the city’s image and influence.
During the lecture, Lin Meijun, drawing on his three decades of experience in Taizhou’s catering industry, shared insights on the cooking techniques of Taizhou cuisine, its culinary brands, preliminary suggestions for the city’s “World City of Gastronomy” application, and the future direction of Taizhou cuisine. Through a unique perspective, he vividly conveyed the allure of Taizhou cuisine. The lecture integrated images, text, and video to thoroughly present the history and evolution of Taizhou cuisine, offering rich content, original viewpoints, and practical insights.
Attendees expressed that the lecture provided them with a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of Taizhou cuisine. They also noted that the session served as an opportunity to increase attention to Taizhou’s culinary culture, encouraging them to actively fulfill their roles as committee members and contribute to the city’s efforts in securing the title of “World City of Gastronomy.”
