Taizhou of Mountains and Seas, shining like a star upon the world. From the Michelin guide to a future of gastronomy rooted in harmonious coexistence.
On April 9, the coastal and mountainous city of Taizhou embraced a landmark moment in its culinary scene—the 2026 Michelin Guide Restaurant Selection for Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang was unveiled here. This marks the first time in the ten years since Michelin entered the Chinese Mainland that selections for the three regions were released together, and the first time the ceremony has been hosted in a prefecture-level city in the Chinese Mainland.
With 4 One-Michelin-Star restaurants, 7 Michelin Selected restaurants, and 19 Michelin Bib Goumand restaurants, Taizhou showcased to the world the authentic flavors shaped by its mountains and seas.
From Carved Dragons(Jiaojiang) and Lao Bian Jiu Jia(Jindai Road) to Xin Rong Ji(Jiaojiang&Linhai), from the elegance of Arch to the everyday charm of street-side maci and Jiangtangmian (ginger soup noodles)—Taizhou draws upon millennia of rice-farming culture and a philosophy of simplicity in cooking to win over even the most discerning palates.

Yet earning stars has never been the destination; it is the beginning of another journey.
As the Michelin spotlight shines upon the East China Sea, Taizhou perceives not only honor but a profound responsibility—how to preserve the gifts of its mountains and seas, and how to keep the warmth of everyday culinary life alive.
Thus, under the same starry sky, Taizhou formally launched the “Harmony and Coexistence: Taizhou Initiative on Celebrity Chefs Empowering Sustainable Gastronomy”—celebrity chefs lead the way in practicing the philosophy of Hehe;
Leverage fine dining to integrate primary, secondary, and tertiary industries, giving back to mountain farmers and East China Sea fishermen for a common prosperity;
Advance ingredient traceability, transparent supply chains, and zero-waste kitchens, collectively cherishing every ingredient from nature;
Harness the power of gastronomy to support rural revitalization and marine ecological conservation.
From recognition to responsibility, from flavor to commitment—this represents Taizhou’s Eastern response to global sustainability ideals, and a solemn pledge as the city moves toward becoming a “World Capital of Gastronomy.”
Why Taizhou?
Ten thousand years ago, the stone fishing net sinkers from the Xiatang Site already testified to the Taizhou people’s inherent pursuit of fresh seafood;
Today, with Michelin stars as its coordinates and the culture of harmony as its foundation, Taizhou demonstrates to the world:
True culinary civilization lies not only in delighting the palate but in reverence for the land, gratitude for the sea, and responsibility for the future.
As Taizhou shines under the Michelin Stars, its flavors unite the world.
Let us make cuisine our catalyst and flavour our covenant,
jointly building a future of sustainable gastronomy!
