2025 World Gastronomy Cities Development Seminar

Time: 09:00 – 12:00, October 31st

Venue: Tiantai Taihe Kaiyuan Mingdu Grand Hotel

The seminar will invite government representatives from cities already awarded the "World City of Gastronomy" title, leading catering enterprises, academic institutions, and renowned industry experts and scholars to gather in Taizhou. They will collectively explore the deeper connotations and development paths of food culture, comprehensively interpret the application criteria, operational experience, and industrial resources related to "World City of Gastronomy," assisting Taizhou in initiating its application work.

Seminar Highlights

He Xiaoxia, Director of Taizhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports, will deliver a sharing session titled "Applying for 'World City of Gastronomy', Taizhou is Full of Drive!"

Wang Han, writer and Chief Advisor of the Taizhou Cuisine Culture Research Society, will give a keynote speech on "Taizhou Cuisine: A Cut Above the Rest in Freshness," focusing on Taizhou's food culture.

Experts will deeply analyze the construction path and action logic for "World City of Gastronomy" from the professional perspective of UCCN (UNESCO Creative Cities Network) evaluation.

Representatives from cities that have successfully applied for "World City of Gastronomy" – Chengdu, Shunde, Macau, Chaozhou – along with representatives from the Hong Kong Catering Industry Association, will share targeted keynote speeches based on their own experiences, providing practical references for Taizhou's application.

2025 Taizhou Cuisine Cooking National Invitational Competition

Competition Time: 08:30 – 17:10, October 31st; 08:30 – 11:30, November 1st

Award Ceremony: 14:00 – 14:30, November 1st

Venue: Tiantai County Tourist Distribution Center

33 top-tier enterprise and academic institution teams from across the country will compete on the same stage, showcasing exquisite culinary skills and innovative concepts to create a dual feast for the eyes and palate.

The competition requires participants to complete 4 dishes within 150 minutes: one creative designated dish centered on "yellow croaker," two signature dishes (one hot, one cold) of their own choice, and one exquisite pasta item, comprehensively demonstrating the integration of culinary skills and creativity. The judging panel will evaluate contestants' performance based on four aspects: preparation, professional cooking, dish presentation, and taste & texture.

Centered around Taizhou cuisine, the event will highlight five representative dishes: Home-Style Braised Yellow Croaker, Free-Range Chicken Broth with Chive-Fragrant Octopus, Soft-Boiled Crabs with Rich Roe, Sea Sandworm Vermicelli, and Simmered Veal with Solomonseal. It will also feature a Taizhou Specialty Snack Experience Area and a Harmony Culture Snack Area, showcasing local delicacies such as Fried Shrimp Paste Rolls, Jiao Bing Tong (stuffed pancake rolls), and Egg White Coated Sesame Balls, allowing attendees to intuitively experience the unique charm of Taizhou's food culture while savoring the tastes.
