East China Sea Food (Taizhou) Research Institute of Zhejiang Gongshang University Officially Launches! Dachen Yellow Croaker Prepared Dishes, Bombay Duck Freeze-Dried Peptide Powder... All Coming to Your Table
On the afternoon of August 12(2022), the East China Sea Food (Taizhou) Research Institute of Zhejiang Gongshang University was officially inaugurated, with Academician Zhu Beiwei of the Chinese Academy of Engineering serving as the institute's Academic Director.

Taizhou boasts abundant fishery resources, but its food industry faces urgent needs for extending the industrial chain, innovating product types, and enhancing added value. The East China Sea Food (Taizhou) Research Institute of Zhejiang Gongshang University is a scientific research and technical service institution jointly established by the People's Government of Jiaojiang District and Zhejiang Gongshang University. It aims to leverage the academic strength of Academician Zhu Beiwei's team, build upon the characteristics of Taizhou's food industry, anchor itself in Jiaojiang, and radiate influence across the East China Sea. The institute will conduct research on tackling common technical challenges, product innovation and development, and industrial applications in food processing areas such as agricultural products and aquatic products.
Currently, the institute has already initiated technical collaborations with multiple enterprises and organizations. These include research on origin identification and quality evaluation of Dachen yellow croaker, development of prepared dishes, and the creation of 10 innovative products related to medicinal food ingredients, Bombay duck, small yellow croaker, tuna, and others. Additionally, six invention patents have been filed.

At the event, Zhejiang Xingwang Aquatic Products Group Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Lv'an Detection Technology Co., Ltd. signed cooperation agreements with the East China Sea Food (Taizhou) Research Institute of Zhejiang Gongshang University.
"Dachen yellow croaker is a 'golden name card' among Taizhou's aquatic products. However, its processing is predominantly primary, involving freezing and chilled storage, with weak capabilities in deep processing and refined processing. Traditional restaurants or individual consumers face complex and time-consuming procedures when preparing dishes from scratch," explained a relevant representative from Zhejiang Xingwang Aquatic Products Group Co., Ltd. They aimed to address this consumer pain point, hence leveraging the institute's research capabilities to develop prepared dish products using Dachen yellow croaker. When these prepared dishes reach the consumer end, they only require simple cooking processes like heating to be ready for consumption.
