Golden peppery pork patties sizzle and tumble in bubbling oil; steaming bowls hold the thick, hearty Linhai Zaogeng soup. Signature snacks from various cities across Zhejiang have gathered here. Over the past few days, the Taizhou International Expo Center has become a favorite haunt for "foodies," with a constant, bustling stream of visitors coming and going.

On October 3rd, the third day of the 2025 Zhejiang Characteristic Snack Carnival and the First Taizhou Premium Snack Week, this feast for the senses continued undiminished, keeping taste buds excited.

At this event gathering signature foods from across Zhejiang, many vendors have won over countless fans with their authentic flavors, becoming on-site "traffic magnets." Among them, local Taizhou businesses shone particularly bright. Lishi Mountain Lü's 'Paoxia' (fried dough stuffed with meat fritters) maintained its "consistent performance," with a long queue always in front of its stall. Freshly fried, the fritters boast a crispy exterior and a generously filled, savory interior. "We sell six to seven hundred every day," said a staff member at the booth. "Many regular customers, seeing our sign, make sure to take one away."

Equally popular is Jianjun's Creamy Spare Ribs, another local Taizhou delicacy whose popularity is just as strong. The golden, enticing ribs are tender and not dry, each bite carrying a unique flavor that leaves a lasting impression. Mr. Wang, a citizen who just bought some, gave a thumbs up: "I buy them every time I go to Linhai! Knowing they were exhibiting here, I came specifically to taste them again—still that familiar, great taste!"

Among local specialties, the steamed buns, rice cakes, and tofu from Ningxi Native Products became highly sought-after items as soon as they appeared. "I'm their regular customer! I always buy a big bag of their buns," said Ms. Chen, holding a heavy bag containing brown sugar buns, Chinese yam buns, and pumpkin buns. "These buns have a substantial texture. They're very convenient for breakfast at home, and my whole family loves them."

While local delicacies each have their distinct features, specialty snacks from other cities also hold their own. Both intangible cultural heritage foods and innovative flavors made appearances, sparking wave after wave of eager tasting. At the stall of Zhang Mama's Meatball Rice Cake (a Longyou intangible cultural heritage item), Mama Zhang skillfully prepared the meatballs. "As soon as I put out my meatballs, they sell out quickly!" Speaking of her star product, her voice was full of confidence in her craft. "Last year, we participated in the 6th Zhejiang Famous Pastry and Snack Competition. Longyou meatballs won the gold medal and were also named the most popular snack in Quzhou!"

Meanwhile, Dong Dashuang's Lanxi Jizi Guo (egg and pork stuffed pancake) conquered Taizhou diners' palates with the surprise of its "bursting meat" filling. The golden pancake skin wraps tender pork and egg, delivering a mouthful of hearty filling with each bite. Ms. Li said with a laugh, "It was our first time trying Lanxi Jizi Guo, and my son ate a whole one in one go! He said it's quite similar to our Taizhou 'Paoxia'—both are crispy outside and savory inside. Both are delicious, and he insisted I buy a few more to take home."

In the realm of innovative foods, Pang Shan's Family Tie Pi Shi Hu Large Meat Bun, with its health-conscious concept, gained favor among many "health enthusiasts." By mashing iron-dendrobium into juice and incorporating it into the dough, it retains the savory taste of a traditional meat bun while adding a healthful touch. On-site, many parents specifically came to buy them, saying they were "buying for the kids—nutritious and reassuring." The substantial dough and generous filling made this innovative bun a "healthy and delicious choice" in the minds of many visitors.

While satisfying taste buds, event benefits also made the experience more considerate for citizens and tourists. It is reported that during the 2025 Zhejiang Characteristic Snack Carnival and the First Taizhou Premium Snack Week, "Wang Chao"APP also launched special benefit activities like "Super Value Coupons" and "1 Yuan Flash Sales," allowing everyone to enjoy this food feast at more affordable prices. In the coming days, this vibrant, filled lively, everyday atmosphere event will continue, with more Zhejiang characteristic delicacies awaiting exploration by food lovers, all coming together to experience the unique charm of Zhejiang's culinary culture.
