Departing for the Bid to Become the "City of Gastronomy"! Taizhou Cuisine Lands at the Milan Winter Olympics
Currently, the Milan Winter Olympics are in full swing. On February 8, the Taizhou Cuisine Overseas Promotion and Exchange Delegation, together with the China Cuisine Association and China Broadcasting Film and Television Satellite Co., Ltd., visited the "China Home" in Milan, Italy, to extend their regards to the support chef team working on the front lines of the Winter Olympics.

The "China Home" in Milan is an official reception venue established by the Chinese Olympic Committee at the Winter Olympics site. It serves not only as a "home away from home" for Chinese athletes competing on the ice and snow but also as an important window to showcase Chinese culture and convey the warmth of China to the world. The delegation focused on the working and living conditions of the frontline chef team, expressing gratitude for their dedication, silent contributions, and their exceptional culinary skills in providing nutritional support for Chinese athletes.
On the same day, the delegation also participated in the "China Night · Light of the Olympics" themed event. The event, centered around the Milan Winter Olympics, brought together International Olympic Committee officials, experts and scholars from various fields, Chinese and foreign guests, and media representatives, serving as a crucial platform for cultural exchanges between China and other countries during the Winter Olympics.
During this event, the delegation undertook the important mission of promoting Taizhou cuisine and harmony culture. Lin Meijun, head of the delegation and expert advisor of the Taizhou Working Group for the "City of Gastronomy" bid, engaged in in-depth exchanges with experts and guests from various fields. Starting from the culinary philosophy and cultural heritage of Taizhou cuisine, she vividly illustrated the unique charm of Taizhou as a practitioner, disseminator, and symbol of harmony culture. This allowed Chinese and foreign guests to genuinely experience the essence and contemporary value of Taizhou cuisine and its harmony culture through culinary delights.
"Whether it is the international cultural exchange activities at the Milan Winter Olympics or the upcoming culinary showcase at the UNESCO headquarters, the core objective is to use food as a bridge to promote the international development of Taizhou cuisine and support Taizhou’s steady progress in its bid to become a City of Gastronomy," said Lin Meijun. She added that the delegation will continue to carry out overseas promotion and exchange activities for Taizhou cuisine, further shining a spotlight on Taizhou’s culinary IP on the international stage.
