On October 31, the Tiantai Tourism Distribution Center in Taizhou was bustling with people as the three-day "Heheshanhai" Food and Snack Market kicked off in full swing.

As a key component of the "Harmony Between Mountains and Sea, Shared Culinary Prosperity" 2025 China Taizhou · Snack Food Carnival, this event features iconic Taizhou delicacies alongside flavors from across Zhejiang and regional specialties from all over China. Since its opening, it has attracted a large number of residents and tourists who flocked to savor the feast.

Stepping into the venue, over 70 food stalls offered hundreds of specialty dishes. Talented culinary experts from Taizhou gathered here, showcasing their skills amid the aromatic steam and smoke, which drew frequent stops from food enthusiasts.

The market offered familiar local flavors for Taizhou natives, such as Egg White Lamb Tail, Pine Flower Cake, Mountain Flour Paste, and Sweet Potato Celebration Cake. It also featured specialties from sister cities in Zhejiang, including Lanxi Egg-Stuffed Pancake, Longyou Meatballs, and Jinyun Baked Cake. Moreover, authentic dishes from other provinces were present, such as Fuding Meat Swallow, Xuzhou Rice Noodles, and Nanjing Hundred-Flower Cheese. The dazzling array of delicacies left visitors spoilt for choice.

"One bowl of ginger soup noodles, please!" "I’d like a ginger juice steamed egg!" In front of the stall of Mancang Fishing Family, a representative of Taizhou’s local cuisine, the constant stream of orders highlighted the unique appeal of regional flavors. At the stall, the enticing ginger soup noodles steamed with heat, while the ginger juice steamed eggs emitted a rich aroma. These authentic Taizhou flavors evoked nostalgia for local diners and introduced visitors to the profound culinary heritage of Taizhou.

"Our beef balls contain no additives. They are made only with beef and sweet potato starch, giving them a chewy, smooth, and springy texture," said Su Jiajian, the person in charge of Pengji Agu Beef Balls, as he deftly dropped the beef balls into the pot. This was his first time participating in a food market in Taizhou, and he was pleasantly surprised by its popularity: "Taizhou food lovers truly know their stuff. Many have asked if we offer delivery after trying our beef balls."

Ms. Wang, a resident who came to the market with her family, held several bags of food in her hands, her face beaming with joy. "Usually, if I want to try Osmanthus Tree Plum Blossom Cake or Lü’s Fried Shrimp Cake, I have to go to Jiaojiang District. This time, I can enjoy them all right at my doorstep. It’s so convenient!" She held up a Hulatai (a local pancake) to show the reporter. "This is the flavor I grew up with. I also bought some Longyou Fermented Cake for my child—it’s sweet but not too heavy, and my child loves it."

It is reported that the "Heheshanhai" Food and Snack Market will run until November 2, opening daily from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. All residents and tourists are warmly invited to explore the diverse and delicious offerings.
